Brick Villa
This project is a brick villa in a garden site on a lane in Dublin City. The design optimises the orientation of the site to harness solar energy passively by having small openings to the northern side and by opening up to the south-facing garden. An array of photovoltaic panels on the roof generates electricity to charge the cars that are plugged into the northern wall. The internal layout creates a series of interconnected rooms for family living opening onto the garden. The material palette and architectural expression relate to both the adjoining Edwardian houses and the nineteen seventies apartment buildings.
