JMLA highly commended in competition for a scientific research building for TU Dublin

JMLA were one of five finalists in an international design competition for a new €16M Scientific Research Centre in TU Dublin’s new campus in Grangegorman.

Our entry combined mass timber technologies with reinforced concrete construction to make a flexible matrix of spaces organised around a vertical route where the research community could congregate. In this way the hard science of academic research was overlaid with the social science of human interaction so that new ideas and collaborations could emerge. For the second stage of the competition we collaborated with Agence Ter, Arup, Punch, and STW Architects.
