Mariner’s Mews Featured in December Issue of Architecture Ireland

January 23rd, 2021

Mariner’s Mews in the Haigh Terrace Conservation area of Dun Laoghaire has been featured in the December issue of Architecture Ireland – the journal of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland (RIAI). Illustrated with Ros Kavanagh’s photographs as well as drawings and technical details of the house, the feature includes a commissioned review by architect Orla O’Kane who notes that the house “is very concise in terms of its scale, compact form, and relationship to surrounding buildings, and the detailing is sharp as expected from JMLA.” Orla mentions that the client was one of the crew who accompanied Tim Severin on the legendary Brendan Voyage and says that “The mariner now resides in a home that shares some of the characteristics of an upturned curragh seems poetically appropriate.”
