JMLA participating in Architecture Biennale in Royal Academy of Fine Art Copenhagen

November 28th, 2019

John McLaughlin Architects were invited to exhibitat the 2nd Biennale of artistic research in architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Art Copenhagen. Our exhibit ‘Mnemonic Space’ presented our project for public exhibition spaces in the National Archives of Ireland. The Words + Works 2019 curators commented “In a world where dramatic fake news stories threaten to drown out the facts, the publicly available archive stands as a stable fount of veracity. John McLaughlin Architects’ intervention, or hack, into The National Archives of Ireland makes the data in the archive a common concern. The project programme highlights both the need to preserve the archive as a reservoir of our collective memory and the potential of the archive to fuel political resistance through knowledge sharing and knowledge generation”. The exhibition opened on the 28th November, and continues until the 19th January 2020. Other participants include Peter Markli, Francesca Torzo, Gunter Vogt, Sarah Wigglesworth, Penelope Haralambidou, and Flores + Prats. Our participation in the biennale was supported financially by Culture Ireland.
