NUIG Exhibition Pavilion Starts on Site

January 3rd, 2017

Our new Exhibition Pavilion for the Hardiman Research Building in NUI Galway started on site today. The proposed structure is a flexible steel pavilion with hinged wall panels and a slatted ceiling integrating lighting. The structure can be easily resized and reshaped making use of the hinged wall panels, to offer a flexible exhibition space. The design enables many different spatial arrangements, from an open-plan rectangle similar to the current exhibition space, to a space broken into smaller shapes that bring the visitor on a journey. The new pavilion sits next to Ronnie Tallon’s original library building, a protected structure, and it reflects the rhythm of the architecture and spirit of the detailing in the original library building.
